Ukraine Transport Appeal

Dear supporters,

Our opposite numbers in Ukraine are a charity - From Dreams to Reality (FD2R) - based in Brovary, near Kyiv.

They not only collect our quarterly CAFU one-ton aid loads (donated and funded through your generosity) from either Lviv or Dnipro, both over three hundred miles from their hub near Kyiv, but also help distribute aid for other charities shipped in via the 20 ton consignments from Kent Relief which we share. FD2R also take aid to the Donbas and front line regions where the civilian suffering is greatest.

They now need to replace a dated and tired old car (Pierre has ridden in it!), with a used Volkswagen Multivan TW4 Diesel 8-seater cargo van. They believe this will cost around EUR 6,000 for a used one.

CAFU is therefore aiming to collect £6,000 by 31st  January. Our existing funds will support a donation of £3,500, and our friends at Kent Relief wish to contribute £1,000. We are therefore seeking to raise the last £1,500.

We hope therefore we can reach our target, with your help

We saw the need for better transport during Pierre’s visit in June last year, but meanwhile we have needed  to prioritise £1,000 for a generator for FD2R’s hub to cover winter power cuts, which we provided last September, plus a large shipment of urgent bedding, cooking, eating, hygiene, and medical items, which arrived in Dnipro just ahead of Christmas.

We are writing to you directly, rather than running another Just Giving campaign which would incur a commission fee, and from which we cannot claim Gift Aid from HMRC.

If you are able to make a donation which would qualify for Gift Aid, we attach a form that can be returned to us, but this is only necessary if you have not completed one previously.

Thank you from the trustees here in Chorleywood, but above all from Anastasia and the team in Brovary, who continue to cope with conditions that we are spared!
